AKRON, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball game (14-24, 9-8 MAC) battled through snowy weather and completed a 6-5 comeback victory over Buffalo in the series opener on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of a 2-RBI single. Akron answered in the third inning when Angela Cirone (Louisville, Ohio) hit an RBI ground out that got the Zips on the board. The Zips tied the game when  Laurel DeVoe (North Canton, Ohip) scored on a throwing error on Buffalo.

The Bulls plated a run in the top of the fifth to go ahead 3-2, but that wouldn't last long as Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) sent home a runner on an RBI single that made it 3-3.

A two-run homer in the sixth inning put Buffalo ahead, 5-3, but Jaiden Bryant (Hilliard, Ohio) started the Zips' comeback with a 2-RBI double to left field that tied the game at 5-5. Campbell singled and hit her second RBI of the game to score the Zips' winning run.

Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) got the win after going 2.0 innings after giving up no runs and two hits.

Akron will close out the series with a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20 with the first game starting at 1 p.m. The second game will start approximately 30 mins after the conclusion of game one.
