Akron Falls in Series Finale to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Akron softball team (13-24, 8-8 MAC) fell in the series finale, 8-0 in five innings to Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
The Broncos used a seven-hit game to propel them to victory as the Zips were only able to get one hit.
WMU plated a pair of runs in the second inning that gave the Broncos a 2-0 lead over Akron, before the Broncos added four runs in the fourth inning that extended their lead to 6-0.
Akron's only hit came in the fifth inning when Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) singled down the left field line, but the Zips were unable to score the runner.
The Broncos added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the 8-0 victory in five innings.
Elizabeth Frederick (Williamsburg, Pa.) suffered the loss after going 3.0 innings and giving up three runs on one hit, while striking out two batters.
Akron will host a series with Buffalo on April 19-20.
The series will kick off on Tuesday, April 19 with a 3 p.m. first pitch, followed by a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20 with the first game starting at 1 p.m.
