BUIS CREEK, N.C.- The Akron Zips softball team (2-12) dropped its final game of the Campbell Invitational in a 4-0 decision to tournament hosts, Campbell on Sunday afternoon.

Junior pitcher Lexie Petrof (Uniontown, Ohio) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out three batters.

Campbell was able to capitalize in the second inning scoring a lone run to put the hots ahead, 1-0. Akron was able to hold Campbell scoreless through the fifth innings, but the Camels scored a trio of runs in the sixth inning that extended the lead to 4-0.

Despite getting multiple runners on base in the first, third, and sixth innings, the Zips were unable to push one across the plate as Campbell took the victory.

CF Molly McChesney (Verona, Wisc.), OF Angela Cirone (Louisville, Ohio), and OF Tiffany Stevens (Toledo, Ohio) all led the Zips' bats all recording one hit.

Akron will be back in action March 11-13 as the Zips travel to Nashville, Tenn to compete in the Belmont Invite. Akron will face Bradley, Belmont, and University of North Alabama.
