KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A pair of second-half goals lifted Western Michigan to a 3-1 victory over the Akron women's soccer team on Thursday, Oct. 20.
The Broncos assumed an early 1-0 advantage on a goal in the 19th minute (18:58) from Jaden Peck.
Sophomore Sarah Nguyen (Irwin, Pa.) leveled the contest at one at the 25:30 mark finding the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio).
Western Michigan netted a pair of tallies in the 76th (75:48) and 78th (77:23) minutes, respectively, to earn a 3-1 victory.
Nguyen paced the Zips' attack with a team-high two shots, while sophomore GK Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) recorded a career-high 11 saves for the Zips on the afternoon.
