AKRON, Ohio- A dominating first half by Miami proved to be too much for the Akron women's soccer team as the Zips (2-9-0, 0-2-1 MAC) fell 3-0 on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Â
"We didn't show up in the first half and it's as simple as that," commented head coach Noreen Herlihy. "We came out so much better in the second half dominating the game but being down 3-0 is hard to come back from. We need to carry our second half performance into Sunday.
Â
Freshmen Morgan Shansky (Oakdale, Pa.) and Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio) led the Zips with two shots each, while Pentz had one shot on goal.
Â
Sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Berlin (Gau-Odernheim, Germany) made her first collegiate start. She faced 12 shots and made three saves.
