AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's lacrosse team faces a pair of road tests this week as the Zips will visit Robert Morris and St. Bonaventure on Tuesday (March 16) and Saturday (March 20), respectively.

The Zips open the week with a Mid-American Conference showdown against the Colonials at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16. Akron then steps out of league play to battle the Bonnies at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS:
Robert Morris is off to 5-2 start to the campaign, including a 1-0 mark in the Mid-American Conference, following the Colonials' setback versus Cincinnati on March 10. Senior Mackenzie Gandy leads the Robert Morris in goals (19), points (27), shots (56) and shots on goals, while senior GK Katelyn Miller has started all seven matches for the Colonials and has recorded 51 saves. Robert Morris is led by fourth-year head coach Katrina Silva, who owns a 157-133 ledger in 18 years as a head coach.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE:
St. Bonaventure is off to an 1-2 start to its campaign following an 11-10 overtime setback versus Bucknell on March 6. Senior Destinee Johnson directs the Bonnies' offensive attack with team-high marks in assists (2), points (4), shots (22) and shots on goal (11), while ranking third in goals (2). Sophomore GK Ashley Herrick has posted 24 saves on the campaign in net for St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies are led by second-year head coach Jason Levesque, who owns a 6-4 ledger in two years as a head coach.

Akron earned a split of its matches a week ago as the Zips registered an 18-5 triumph past Delaware State on Tuesday, March 9, before suffering a 9-8 setback at Kent State on Saturday, March 13.

In the inaugural encounter between Akron and Kent State, it was the Golden Flashes that escaped with a 9-8 triumph past the Zips on Saturday, March 13 at Dix Stadium.

Kent State earned a half point in the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Wagon Wheel Challenge with the triumph to even the 16-sport rivalry series at four points apiece.

Redshirt freshmen Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) registered her team-leading 13th and 14th goals of the season for the Zips, while redshirt freshman Abby McMullen (Medina, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Kaylee Riggins (Zionsville, Ind) also posted a team-high two goals for Akron.

Additionally, freshman Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) tallied her first career goal in the opening half, while redshirt freshman Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.) notched a second-half tally to round out the Zips' scoring efforts on the afternoon.

Freshman GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) recorded eight saves for Akron, while her counterpart Taylor Monturo posted 13 stops for Kent State. The Zips' defensive efforts thwarted the Golden Flashes' attack on each of their eight free position attempts.

The Zips earned a 21-17 advantage in shots on goal in the tilt, despite being outshoot overall by a 28-25 margin.

Riggins gave the Zips an early 1-0 advantage with a goal at the 2:32 mark, before the Golden Flashes assumed at 3-1 lead with a trio of unanswered tallies.

After falling behind early in the match, 2-1, Akron collected four straight goals, including two from Shewbridge and one each off the sticks of Boyd and Kiefer to assume a 5-2 lead with 10:20 left before halftime.
