AKRON, Ohio – In its final tune-up before the 2019 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 9-11, the University of Akron track and field team will close out its regular season hosting the Campbell/Wright Invitational this Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex and Walsh Jesuit High School.
UP NEXT: The two-day meet will commence at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3 with the women's and men's hammer and javelin competitions.
In conjunction with Walsh Jesuit High School, the meet will conclude on Saturday, May 4, with the running events at Walsh Jesuit High School (MAP) in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, from 11:30 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m.
The competition will conclude with the men's and women's discus, high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put, triple jump and Senior Day recognition at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex starting at 2:30 p.m.
Scheduled to compete at the Campbell/Wright Invitational will be student-athletes from Akron, Kent State, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and individuals from other programs.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The University of Akron men's track and field squad is ranked No. 35 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Rating Index released April 29.
The Zips' men's squad is rated sixth in the most-current Great Lakes Regional ratings, while the women's team checks in at No. 10.
The Zips are the top-rated Mid-American Conference team ranked in the men's and women's national polls.
In the Event Squad rankings released on April 29, Akron is ranked fourth nationally in the men's pole vault and among the top 20 in five different events.
Akron is also rated 10th in the men's long jump and women's 400-meter hurdles, 12th in the men's high jump and 20th in the men's javelin.
The Akron men's and women's teams are ranked No. 19 and No. 23, respectively, in the final Collegiate Outdoor Dual Meet Rankings as compiled by Jesse Squire for Track and Field News.
NCAA PREDICTIONS: A trio of University of Akron track and field standouts were among those projected by Track and Field News in its latest men's and women's championship tabulations to earn top-10 performances at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 5-8, in Austin, Texas.
Seniors Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) and Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) were tabbed to finish third and fourth, respectively, in the men's pole vault and men's long jump, while senior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) was projected to place sixth in the women's pole vault.
ZIPS AMONG NATION'S BEST IN LATEST TFRRS RANKINGS: Akron has seven student-athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally by the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) is this week's rankings, including senior Lucy Bryan, who is third in the nation in the women's pole vault (14-9/4.50m).
Also rated among the top-25 are seniors Jordan Latimer (sixth in the men's long jump - 26-3.75/8.02m), Matt Ludwig (sixth in the men's pole vault - 18-6.50/5.65m) and Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) (12th in men's high jump - 7-2.50/2.20m), redshirt sophomore Hesham Eldesouky (16th in the men's triple jump - 52-5.75/15.98m), redshirt junior Ian Behm (Volant, Pa.) (18th in men's javelin - 233-7/71.20m) and senior Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) (23rd in women's 3,000-meter steeplechase - 10:12.72).

CRACKING THE ALL-TIME TOP-FIVE PERFORMANCES: The Zips registered a trio of school records as part of six overall top-five performances in outdoor program history in Akron's trio of meets a week ago.
Lucy Bryan established a school and MAC record in the women's pole vault to headline the efforts of the Zips' track and field team at the LSU Invitational on April 27. Bryan captured the women's pole vault eclipsing a school-record mark of 14-9 (4.50m), breaking the all-time school and league standard of 14-5.50 (4.41m) set by Annika Roloff on May 10, 2014.
Ian Behm registered a school-record mark of 233-7 (71.20m) en route to capturing the men's javelin at the Jesse Owens Classic on April 26.
Behm's performance surpassed Jeff Vojtko's school-record mark of 232-3 set in 1992 and stands as the 15th-best mark in the NCAA this season. The record was the oldest one still atop the all-time performance list for the Zips in program history.
Redshirt freshman Noah Williams (Hilton, N.Y.) recorded the fastest time in outdoor program history in the men's 400 meters crossing the line in 46.28 to place second at the LSU Invitational on April 27. Williams bested Brent Gray's school-record time of 46.40 set on May 29, 2015.
Curtis Richardson registered a career-best mark of 7-2.50 (2.20m) to place second in the men's high jump at the LSU Invitational on April 27, to post the second-rated mark in outdoor program history.
Freshman Sara Foster (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) registered the fourth-best performance in outdoor program history placing third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 60.02 at the LSU Invitational on April 27.
Redshirt junior Maike Anstett (Karlsruhe, Germany) recorded the No. 5 mark in outdoor program history in the women's triple jump soaring 40-2.25 (12.25m) to place fourth at the LSU Invitational.

Equally impressive for Akron was Noah Williams, who registered a school-record time of 46.28 in the men's 400 meters, shattering his personal-best time of 47.19 by nearly a second, en route to placing second in the event. Williams bested Brent Gray's school-record time of 46.40 set on May 29, 2015.

Maike Anstett placed fourth in the women's triple jump, the fifth-best performance in outdoor program history, with a career-long mark of 40-2.25 (12.25m).
Jordan Latimer placed second in the men's long jump with a mark of 25-5.25 (7.75m).
Redshirt freshman Garrett White (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) recorded a career-best time of 54.31 to finish second in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
The men's 4x400 relay team of freshman Zach Robinson (Pickerington, Ohio), Williams, White and freshman Sam Janson (Dayton, Ohio) finished second in a season-best time of 3:13.11.
Abigale Wilson and Olivia Snyder took the top-two spots in the women's shot put to lead the Zips' performances on the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State on April 27 in Columbus, Ohio.
Wilson and Snyder registered marks of 50-11 (15.52m) and 49-1.75 (14.98m) to finish first and second, respectively, in the women's shot put.
Wilson later placed fourth in the championship flight of the women's discus with a mark of 169-10 (51.77m), while Snyder was sixth in the traditional women's discus with a mark of 147-9 (45.04m).
Redshirt sophomore Nick Stricklen (Lexington, Ohio) registered a career-best time of 9:16.98 en route to placing second in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Mackenzie Andrews recorded a career-best time of 2:08.48 to earn a fourth-place effort in the women's 800 meters.

A YEAR AGO: Daziah Green registered a school-record time of 23.22 to capture the women's 200 meters and direct the efforts of the Zips on the final day of the Campbell/Wright Invitational on May 5, 2018 at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
The triumph was one of three on the day for Green, who also took first in the women's 100 meters with a season-best time of 11.58. Additionally, she ran the second leg of the winning women's 4x100 relay team that also included Ariadna Ramos Gandia, Stephanie Hale and Dara Perry. The relay crossed the line first in a season-best time of 45.55.
Taron Slone garnered a pair of triumphs winning the men's 200 meters in a then career-best time of 20.85, while running the second leg of the victorious men's 4x100 relay squad of Kwadarrius Smith, Jamir Coleman and sophomore Tyler Grine (Fremont, Ohio), which recorded a time of 40.63.
Abigale Wilson won the women's shot put with a mark of 49-9.25 (15.17m), while Olivia Snyder registered a then career-best mark of 49-8.50 (5.15m) to place second.
Wilson earned her second triumph of the day taking the women's discus with a throw of 183-8 (55.98m).
Mackenzie Andrews took the women's 800 meters crossing the line in a career-best time of 2:08.52.
Lucy Bryan captured the women's pole vault eclipsing 14-0 (4.27m), while Eboni Hall finished second with a career-best mark of 14-0 (4.27m). Hall's performance represents the fifth-best clearance in outdoor program history.
Perry crossed the line first in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a winning time of 13.50.
Sophomore Steven Ashcraft (Canton, Ohio) took top honors in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:53.33, while redshirt junior Jeremiah Fitzgerald (Mantua, Ohio) won the men's 3,000 meters (8:58.31).
Sophomore Andrew Wahl (Northfield, Ohio) placed first in the men's 400 meters with a career-best time of 50.37.
BEHM AND BRYAN NAMED MAC MEN'S AND WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: University of Akron track and field redshirt junior Ian Behm and senior Lucy Bryan were recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 30.

A YEAR AGO: Daziah Green registered a school-record time of 23.22 to capture the women's 200 meters and direct the efforts of the Zips on the final day of the Campbell/Wright Invitational on May 5, 2018 at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
The triumph was one of three on the day for Green, who also took first in the women's 100 meters with a season-best time of 11.58. Additionally, she ran the second leg of the winning women's 4x100 relay team that also included Ariadna Ramos Gandia, Stephanie Hale and Dara Perry. The relay crossed the line first in a season-best time of 45.55.
Taron Slone garnered a pair of triumphs winning the men's 200 meters in a then career-best time of 20.85, while running the second leg of the victorious men's 4x100 relay squad of Kwadarrius Smith, Jamir Coleman and sophomore Tyler Grine (Fremont, Ohio), which recorded a time of 40.63.
Abigale Wilson won the women's shot put with a mark of 49-9.25 (15.17m), while Olivia Snyder registered a then career-best mark of 49-8.50 (5.15m) to place second.
Wilson earned her second triumph of the day taking the women's discus with a throw of 183-8 (55.98m).
Mackenzie Andrews took the women's 800 meters crossing the line in a career-best time of 2:08.52.
Lucy Bryan captured the women's pole vault eclipsing 14-0 (4.27m), while Eboni Hall finished second with a career-best mark of 14-0 (4.27m). Hall's performance represents the fifth-best clearance in outdoor program history.
Perry crossed the line first in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a winning time of 13.50.
Sophomore Steven Ashcraft (Canton, Ohio) took top honors in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:53.33, while redshirt junior Jeremiah Fitzgerald (Mantua, Ohio) won the men's 3,000 meters (8:58.31).
Sophomore Andrew Wahl (Northfield, Ohio) placed first in the men's 400 meters with a career-best time of 50.37.
BEHM AND BRYAN NAMED MAC MEN'S AND WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: University of Akron track and field redshirt junior Ian Behm and senior Lucy Bryan were recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 30.
