AKRON, Ohio – The 2017-18 women's basketball season is quickly approaching and with 20 days until the first tip-off of the new year The Akron women's basketball team, headlined by head coach Jodi Kest, spoke to the media, donors, fans, students, and faculty to discuss the upcoming season at James A. Rhodes Arena on Monday afternoon.

The afternoon started off with 12^th-year head coach Kest, who was joined by seniors Greta Burry (Lakewood, Ohio), Lauren Hung (Waterford, Mich.), and redshirt junior Megan Sefcik (Austintown, Ohio).

"We have 13 great young ladies that have worked extremely hard, especially since last spring. I really love this group, the chemistry is outstanding, and we have great leadership this year," said Kest. "They are a fun group to work with and knowing they are so coachable makes it easier for myself and my coaching staff to come in every day with smiles on our face. It is a privilege to be coaching at the University of Akron and with the women's basketball team. To be able to do what we do every single day with these young ladies is an honor for me."

The Zips return a trio of starters from a season ago in sophomores Shaunay Edmonds (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Haliegh Reinoehl (Westfield, Ind.), and Caitlin Vari (Revere, Ohio), along with the veteran leadership of Burry, Hung, and Sefcik.

The 2017-18 women's basketball campaign begins on Nov. 12 when the Zips travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Bucknell in the season opener, before making their home debut at James A. Rhodes Arena on Nov. 17 against Southeastern Louisiana.

Season tickets are now on sale for the 2017-18 campaign, with ticket packages starting at $55. VIP floor seating is again available for women's basketball games, priced at $100 for the season (including a $25 donation to the Z-Fund).

Single game tickets are now available and they can order online on GoZips.com or over the phone at 1-888-99-AKRON(25766).

Akron faculty and staff may purchase season tickets for $45, while the Zips also offer a family plan allowing two adults and two children season tickets for $99. Additionally, fans may add on men's basketball general admission season seats for $30 and $50 for a men's family plan add-on.

Another option is the All-Access 10-pack available for $100 that allows fans 10-undated vouchers which can be redeemed for 10 general admission tickets for any of Akron's ticketed sporting events.

Tickets can be purchased online anytime at GoZips.com/Tickets, or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling or texting 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets).
