Nick Atkinson is in his second season as assistant director of strength and conditioning with the Akron women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 campaign.
Atkinson returned to Akron after serving as a graduate assistant from 2021-22 where he earned a master’s degree in sport science/coaching in the fall of 2022. While with the Zips, he worked with the baseball, lacrosse and volleyball squads, while assisting with the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Atkinson served as the head strength and conditioning coordinator at Shepherd University where he directed all aspects of strength and conditioning for football, baseball, women’s lacrosse, men’s basketball, volleyball, and women’s soccer.
A native of Manassas, Va., Atkinson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science degree from Shepherd University in 2020 and was a member of the baseball team. Following graduation, he completed an internship with the University of Florida football team in the spring of 2020.
