AKRON, Ohio - Junior Isaiah Johnson earned a trio of weekly honors after leading the University of Akron men's basketball team through a 2-0 week, completing an eight consecutive game winning streak. The Zips (11-2) are currently off to the best start in Akron's Division I era, and Johnson has contributed in big ways.
The 6-10, 295LB center from Cincinnati, Ohio, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University, along with, YP.com MAC East Division Player of the Week, and collegesportsmadness.com Madness Mid-American Men's Player of the Week.
Johnson led the Zips the pair of wins with back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts.
