Lucy Bryan, Women's Track and Field
AKRON, Ohio - Freshman Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) was named the Zips' Student Athlete of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, on March 13.
Bryan capped a brilliant rookie campaign registering the second-best jump (14-5.25/4.40m) in program history en route to placing fourth in the women's pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 11.
Bryan garnered first-team All-America accolades after equaling the third-best jump in the competition. Surpassing the opening height of 13-3.50 (4.05m) on her second run at the mark, Bryan then eclipsed 13-9.25 (4.20m) on her initial attempt. She then needed all three attempts to better 14-1.25 (4.30m).
Bryan then established a new career-best mark of 14-5.25 (4.40m) clearing the bar on her second attempt the height. She was unsuccessful on her three attempts at 14-7.25 (4.45m).
