Freshman Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal) helped the Zips extend their winning streak to 12 with a pair of victories in both singles and doubles action over the weekend. In sweeps of Illinois-Chicago and Valparaiso, Pedroso registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over the Flames' Bianca Zuzu at the No. 3 singles spot and took a 6-1, 6-4 decision against Valparaiso's Paige Heuer in No. 2 singles action. Pedroso has now won 10 straight singles matches and holds an 11-2 mark this spring.
The freshman also teamed up with doubles partner senior Shannon Newnes (Romford, London) to pick up 6-1 and 6-4 victories in the two matches.
