Patience Brown, Women's Volleyball
Patience Brown (Bloomington, Ill.) a sophomore on the University of Akron women's volleyball team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week on Oct. 24, presented by The University of Akron.
Brown averaged 2.88 kills and posted a team-high 31.5 points in two matches over the weekend. On Saturday, she contributed 12 kills, two blocks and a service ace against Eastern Michigan.
The sophomore then aided Akron to its first MAC triumph with a 3-2 decision over Central Michigan by registering a 11-kill, .450 hitting percentage performance. Brown also added a season-high seven blocks, five digs and two services ace. With the two matches, she recorded her 12th double-digit kill showing while notching 191 total kills and 55 total blocks on the season.
Akron finishes its homestand next weekend when it hosts Kent State and Ohio. The match against the Golden Flashes will take place Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m., while the showdown with OU is on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. Seniors, Amanda Bedell, Karley Kusan, Brenna Mack, Callie Mack and Julia Smagacz will be recognized prior to their final home match against the Bobcats.
