Zips Beat Ohio Twice on Friday

ATHENS, Ohio - The Akron softball team took both games of a doubleheader with the Ohio Bobcats on Friday, winning 4-2 and 9-5.
On the day, Sophia Wygast hit .600 (3-for-5) with four RBI and two runs. Meagan Lee hit .571 (4-for-7) with one double, one RBI and three runs. Lily Sullivan hit .500 (3-for-6) with one double, one home run and three RBI.
GAME 1 | Akron 4, Ohio 2
ATHENS, Ohio -The Akron Zips rallied from down 2-1 in the sixth inning to win in breathtaking fashion, scoring three runs in the seventh to earn a 4-2 victory over the Ohio Bobcats Friday.
In the batter's box, the Zips were led by Lily Sullivan, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Meagan Lee put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Sophia Wygast also contributed for Akron, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBI.
Madie Jamrog got the win for Akron (28-21, 18-4). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, allowing three walks and striking out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Sullivan put Akron on the board with a leadoff home run off Skipp Miller.
The Zips lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 2-1. Akron scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Wygast, which brought the score to 4-2 in favor of the Zips. The score remained 4-2 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.

ATHENS, Ohio - The Akron Zips took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 9-5 win over the Ohio Bobcats on Friday.
Meagan Lee, Sophia Wygast and Lily Sullivan all recorded multiple hits against the Bobcats. Lee recorded a double and scored twice in four trips to the plate. Wygast plated two runs while scoring twice, while Sullivan hit a double, drove home two runs and scored twice.
Madie Jamrog  picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Akron (29-21, 19-4). The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits, allowing no walks and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Sophia Wygast's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Akron.
The Bobcats then tied the ballgame at two before the Zips came back to reclaim their advantage in the third inning. Akron scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run homer from Sydney Selker, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Zips.
Ohio narrowed Akron's lead to 5-3 before the Zips stretched the advantage to 8-3 in the fourth inning. The Zips added three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of Lily Sullivan.
The Bobcats fought back, closing the gap to 8-5 until Akron added some insurance in the fifth. Brooke Sivek crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Zips, bringing the score to 9-5 in favor of Akron. The score remained 9-5 for the rest of the game, as the Zips coasted to the win.
