CONWAY, S.C. --The Akron Zips fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks 21-3 at the Kickin' Chicken Classic on Sunday.
The Akron offense only managed seven hits to generate their three runs led by McKayla McGee in her  with a 2 for 2 performance, including a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to score Meagan Lee. It stands as McGee's first collegiate homerun while she also singled to left field for her third RBI of the game, scoring Sammy Lehnherr. Five additional Zips provided to the hit total as Lee, Lehnherr, Andrea Day, Halie Furkas and Lily Sullivan all singled.
Macy Walters (0-2) got the ball to start for Akron (0-3) and took the loss, while Maddelynn Lee made a relief appearance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 15-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Akron plated two runs when M. McGee left the yard with Me. Lee aboard.
The Zips deficit expanded to 21-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fifth inning. Akron scored once on an RBI single off the bat of McGee, which brought the score to 21-3 in favor of the Razorbacks. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

» Akron's highest scoring inning was the fourth, when it pushed two runs across.
» Akron went 2-for-5 (.400) with runners in scoring position.
» Akron pitchers faced 41 Arkansas hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and nine fly balls.
