Strong Performances Highlight Al Campbell Invitational for Akron

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team captured three victories as part of 22 overall top three performances at the Seventh Annual Al Campbell Invitational on Friday (Jan. 16) at the Stile Athletics Field House.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) registered a career-best mark of 14-1.75 (4.31m) to win the women's pole vault.
• Sophomore Isaac Baltic (Medina, Ohio) won the men's pole vault eclipsing 16-11 (5.16m), while sophomore Kaden Rambatt (Sharon, Wis.) placed second with a career-best mark of 16-11 (5.16m).
• The men's 4x400 relay team of freshmen Tayven Crump (Vandalia, Ohio) and Owen Gahring (Willard, Ohio), sophomore Jared Newenhisen (Barberton, Ohio) and freshman Ty Munroe (Lewis Center, Ohio) won the race in 3:22.35.
• Redshirt senior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) finished second in the men's elite shot put with a throw of 58-3.75 (17.77m).
• Senior Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) placed second in the women's 200 meters in a time of 55.76.
• Junior Jordan Thompson-Seay (Bratenahl, Ohio) won the men's high jump equaling a career-best mark of 6-6.75 (2.00m).
• Redshirt senior Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) was second in the women's elite weight throw with a mark of 64-8 (19.71m).
• Junior Braeden Quigley (Avon Lake, Ohio) captured the men's shot put with a career-long throw of 53-0.25 (16.16m).
• Freshman Jackline Nanjala (Kitale, Kenya) recorded a career-best time of 2:23.79 to finish second in the women's 800 meters.
• Juniors AJ Jordan (Columbus, Ohio), Rennie Gittens, Jr. (Miami, Fla.) and Andrew Styles (Freeport, Bahamas) placed second in the 60, 200 and 400 meters, respectively, in times of 6.76, 21.93 and 48.83. The efforts of Jordan and Gittens, Jr., represented career-best times.
• Junior Titus Kirui (Eldoret, Kenya) finished second in the men's mile in a time of 4:11.47.
• Sophomore Sloane Sypolt (Louisville, Ohio) placed second in the women's shot put with a career-best throw of 43-1.50 (13.14m).

Akron will compete at the Jud Logan Memorial hosted by Kent State on Friday (Jan. 23).
