Zips Set for All-Ohio Cross Country Championships

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's and women's cross country squads continue their fall campaign taking part in the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships hosted by Cedarville on Friday (Sept. 19).
The All-Ohio Cross Country Championships will kick off with the women's 6K at 6 p.m. before the men's 8K is contested at 6:40 p.m.

IN OUR LAST MEET
Akron opened its 2025 campaign competing at the Michigan Open on Aug. 29 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Junior Titus Kirui (Eldoret, Kenya) led the Zips with a fifth-place finish in the men's 5K race crossing the line in 15:09.7, while junior Megan Hipple (Warren, Ohio) sparked the Akron women with a second-place performance in the women's 5K in a time of 17:41.7.
Kirui was followed by sophomore Emil Stanford (Sunbury, Ohio) in a time of 15:45.1, while senior Taye Gonzalez (Lewis Center, Ohio), junior Majid Abuaun (Rocky River, Ohio) and sophomore Jared Newenhisen (Barberton, Ohio) rounded out the Zips' scoring efforts crossing the line in 15:49.7, 15:57.9 and 17:57.4, respectively.
Sophomore Mercy Jebitok (Kapsabet, Kenya) was next across the line for the Zips in a time of 18:12.4.
Completing the women's scoring efforts for Akron were juniors Kayla Sucharski (Galena, Ohio) and Kennedy Schlessman (Huron, Ohio) and sophomore Jadyn Towns (Berlin Heights, Ohio) in times of 18:53.4, 19:20.5 and 20:21.2, respectively. Additionally, redshirt senior Emily Razo (Salem, Ohio) posted a time of 22:14.0.
