CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The University of Akron men's and women's cross country squads garnered solid results at the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships on Friday (Sept. 19).

Junior Megan Hipple (Warren, Ohio) captured the women's 6K race in a time of 21:06.8, while senior Taye Gonzalez (Lewis Center, Ohio) was Akron's top finisher in the men's 8K crossing the line in 25:38.7.

Junior Kayla Sucharski (Galena, Ohio) was next across the line for the Zips posting a time of 22:46.9, while junior Kennedy Schlessman (Huron, Ohio), sophomore Jadyn Towns (Berlin Heights, Ohio) and senior Emily Razo (Salem, Ohio) rounded out Akron's scoring efforts with times of 23:18.0, 24:46.1, 27:36.3, respectively.

In the men's field, junior Majid Abuaun (Rocky River, Ohio) followed Gonzalez through the line registering a time of 25:47.6. Culminating the scoring performances for the Zips was sophomore Emil Stanford (Sunbury, Ohio), junior Quinn Hopkins (Akron, Ohio) and sophomore Jared Newenhisen (Barberton, Ohio) in 25:58.6, 26:10.8 and 29:00.2, respectively.

The Zips continue their campaign traveling to Notre Dame, Ind., for the Joe Piane Cross Country Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Oct. 3.
