Zips Offense Erupts For 13 Runs in Win Over Eastern Michigan on Friday

YPSILANTI, Mich. -Â The Akron baseball team used multi-hit games from six Zips to take down Eastern Michigan 7-6 on the road Friday to begin the series.
Michael Sprockett, Evan Bottone, Jack Poist, Max Bowman, Sam Seeker and Charlie Schebler all had two or more hits with Sprockett leading the way with three hits. James Strom and Poist both racked up three RBI against the Eagles while Bowman, Sprockett and Schebler each recorded two RBI each.
Spencer Atkins (1-6) picked up the victory out of the pen for Akron (7-30, 2-14). Jack Kelley made an impact on the mound for the Zips, starting the ballgame and throwing four innings, giving up two runs, on five hits, with one walk and six strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips scored in six different innings on the way to victory. After holding the lead two different times earlier in the ballgame, Akron broke a 7-7 tie and took the lead for good at 8-7 in the seventh inning on an RBI single off the bat of Strom. Akron would tack on five more runs over the eighth and ninth innings to extend its lead over EMU.
