AKRON, Ohio -- Sophomore Meagan Lee racked up four hits to help propel the Akron Zips over the Northern Illinois Huskies 7-6 on Sunday.

Lee's four-hit day led the Zips offensively. Freshman Delany Jenkinson compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to give Akron the final lead of the game. Senior Cailey Joyce also contributed for Akron, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.

Sophomore Haley Croyle (5-7) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Akron (13-15, 5-1). The right-hander went 2.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Akron plated two runs when Joyce left the yard with A. Campbell aboard.

The Huskies broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the fifth inning, when the Zips got back on the scoreboard. The Akron offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Jenkinson, which brought the Zips lead to 7-5. Northern Illinois put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Akron still held on for the 7-6 win.
