HIGH POINT, N.C. – The University of Akron track and field program began its spring season at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge on Friday (March 22) in High Point, N.C., as the Zips posted a pair of victories as part of six overall top-five finishes.

As part of the team challenge, the men finished the first day in second place with 32 points, while the women are in fourth place and 17 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Redshirt junior Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) won the men's pole vault with a mark of 18-4.50 (5.60m), the top-rated performance in the NCAA this spring.
• Redshirt junior Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) recorded a personal-best time of 17:28.90 to place second in the women's 5,000 meters.
• Redshirt senior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished first in the men's hammer with a throw of 204-5 (62.30m), while junior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) placed third with a personal-best mark of 193-5 (58.95m).
• Redshirt sophomore Gabrielle Griffiths (Forth Worth, Texas) set a personal best in the women's hammer with a mark of 175-5 (53.17m) to place in fifth.
