Port Clinton, Ohio – The Akron Zips golf team fired a 605 (+29) team score to enter Tuesday's final 18-hole round ranked second overall at the 2024 Rocket hosted by Toledo at the Catawba Island Club (Par-72, 5,979 yards).
The Zips opened the tournament with a 309 (+21) team tally and shaved 13 strokes off the team score for a 296 (+8) total on the second 18-hole round of the day Monday.
Three Zips landed in the Top 20 after 36 holes of play as junior Maisarah Hezri leads the way with a 149 (+5) score. Hezri fired a 1-under par 71 scored on the second 18-hole round after posting a 76 (+6) opening round score, ranking No. 5 overall.
Freshman Sohniya Chandra Mohan followed with a 150 (+6) two-round total which stands No. 7 overall. She carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 73 (+1), while junior Avery Wright posted scores of 80 (+8) and 74 (+2) for a 154 (+10) total and ranks 19th overall.
Rounding out the scoring for the Zips were juniors Emily Liptak (157 (+13) – 79-78) and Hridhika Vora (160 (+16) – 75-85) for 26th and 32nd rankings, respectively. Sophomore Katrin Horn Danielsdottir registered a 179 (+35) as an individual.
