Zips Climb to Fifth Overall, Hezri and Na Songkhia in Top 15

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips golf team carded a 296 (+16) on the second day of the MAC Championship as Maisarah Hezri and Kirida Na Songkhia led the Blue and Gold with 2-0ver par 72 scores at Firestone Country Club on Monday.
Both Hezri and Na Songkhia reside in the top-15 after the second day of competition. Hezri is tied for 11th at with a 144 (+4) tournament total, while Na Songkhia is tied for 15th with 146 (+6) strokes.
Hezri went +1 on the front and back nine, recording a birdie and six pars on both fronts, bringing her two-round total six birdies and 21 par scores. Na Songkhia carded a -3 after the first nine holes, including back-to-back birdies to finish out the front nine. She has five birdies and 24 par scores for 36-holes of play.
Sohniya Chandra Mohan finished the second day of the MAC Championship with a 76 (+6), rising seven spots on the leaderboard for a 153 (+13). She recorded par on eight holes on the front nine and six on the back nine.
Hridhika Vora finished with a 76 (+6) as well, rising seven spots on the leaderboard for a 154 (+14) tournament total. She is tied for 36th overall, recording par on 11 holes while firing a birdie on the 12th hole.
Kaitlin Kormuth carded a 78 (+8) on the day, recording par on 10 holes and is tied for 23rd overall. Kormuth is ranked 23rd overall with a 148 (+8) tournament total, including three birdies and 23 pars.
The Zips rank fifth overall heading into Tuesday's final 18-hole round behind Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Kent State. The final round begins at 9 a.m. as the Zips tee-off from hole No. 1 with Vora (9 a.m.) leading the way, followed by Chandra Mohand (9:10 a.m.), Kormuth (9:20 a.m.), Na Songkhla (9:30 a.m.) and Hezri (9:40 a.m.).
