AKRON, Ohio - The 11th-ranked University of Akron rifle team registered 4693-4637 triumph over No. 15 Morehead State on Saturday (Jan. 20) at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range.

Leading the smallbore division, senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) topped the leaderboard posting a very respectable 585 score, only three point off her career-best mark. Also breaking into the elite 580's, was senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) (584) and junior Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho) (580), who shared the top-three slots with Schnupp.

Junior Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) registered a team-best score of 597 in the air rifle, only one point off the school record and a new career high for Kirk. The duo of Perkowski (595) and Engels (591) rounded out the top-three performers for team Akron.

Akron travels to Annapolis, Md., to battle No. 15 Navy and top-rated West Virginia on Saturday (Jan. 27) at 9 a.m.
