No. 15 Akron Picks Up Two Wins During NCAA Qualifier

AKRON, Ohio -Â The 15th-ranked University of Akron rifle team picked up two wins this weekend, besting Mount Aloysius and Schreiner University on Saturday (Feb. 21) in an NCAA Qualifier at Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range.
Akron posted it's second-highest NCAA qualifier score in program history, finishing with a 4697 team combined score. The Zips also recorded a 2371 team air rifle, which is a season-high score.
Senior Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) led all competitors in smallbore, air rifle, and combined scoring with a 585, 595, and 1180. Tied for second were senior Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) and freshman Matthew Kimball (Pineville, La.), who posted identical scores of 582, 592, and 1174. Rounding out the scoring for the Zips were freshman Kathleen Moran (Buffalo, N.Y.) with a 577 smallbore and redshirt-senior Joey Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.) with a 592 air rifle.
Akron continues postseason competition, traveling to West Point, N.Y., for the Great America Rifle Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 28 – March 1), hosted by Army.
