AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's soccer team opens a two-game homestand on Thursday (Aug. 31) as the Zips welcome Dayton to FirstEnergy Stadium for a 7 p.m. tilt. Akron then hosts Boston College on Sunday (Sept. 3) at 1 p.m.

PARKING UPDATE
Akron fans are strongly encouraged to park in Lot 1 (Parking Garage) at the corner of Carroll and Spicer Streets off Route 8 for all Akron fall home sporting events due to construction on Exchange Street in Akron. For fans traveling using Route 8 North to campus please be advised that the Carroll Street exit off Route 8 is temporarily closed and to please allow extra time getting to campus.

The Zips enter action against Dayton at 1-2 on the campaign following a setback versus Robert Morris on Aug. 24.
Junior Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio) leads the Zips in goals (2), points (4), shots (6) and shots on goal (3), while junior Caitlin Bruni (Canal Fulton, Ohio) and freshman Rachel Wenzel (Akron, Ohio) have each tallied an assist. Junior GK Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) and freshman Sara Bower (Cincinnati, Ohio) have combined to pull in six saves for Akron and post a 1.67 goals against average.
The Zips under the leadership of second-year head coach Jen Simonetti return 10 starters in 2023, including 2022 All-Mid-American Conference performers, junior Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio) and sophomore Emma King (Akron, Ohio), who garnered Second-Team All-MAC and MAC All-Freshman Team accolades. Additionally, a quartet of team captains in senior Bailee Bowers (Dublin, Ohio) and juniors Clara Knoepke (Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany), Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) return to lead the Zips.
The Zips welcome 13 newcomers to the squad in Sara Bower (Cincinnati, Ohio), Kiana Harsh (Waterville, Ohio), Olivia Heskett (Lewis Center, Ohio), Lucia Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio), Sophie Kirsten (South Elgin, Ill.), Abby Koly (Avon, Ohio), Hannah Langstaff (Washington, Ill.), Jordanne Oberhaus (Wadsworth, Ohio), Kylie Schiemann (Geneva, Ohio), Anna Simmons (Manassas, Va.), Karlie Sugar (Medina, Ohio), Emalee Szablewski (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Wenzel.
SCOUTING DAYTON
Dayton is off to a 3-0-1 mark this season following a 0-0 draw versus Illinois on Sunday (Aug. 27).
The Flyers are led by sophomore Mairin Wessner, who owns team-high marks in goals (3), assists (2) and points (8), while senior Madison Wilson and redshirt senior Laney Huber pace the team in shots (7). Sophomore GK Batoul Reda has pulled in 23 saves en route to posting a 0.75 team goals against average and one shutout.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College enters its showdown at Michigan on Thursday (Aug. 31) at 1-2-1 on the campaign following a 2-0 victory over San Jose State on Sunday (Aug. 27).
The Eagles are directed by junior Ella Richards, who owns team-high marks in goals (3), points (6), shots (7), shots on goal (5) and game-winners (1). Junior GK Wiebke Willebrandt has pulled in 13 saves en route to posting a 1.87 team goals against average and a pair of shutouts.
SERIES HISTORY
Akron and Dayton are meeting for the fifth time in program history with the Flyers leading the all-time series 4-0-0. In 2022, Dayton bested the Zips, 2-0, on Sept. 11, 2022 in Dayton, Ohio.
