Zips Launch Three Homeruns, Akron Falls to Malone

Juniors DH Jack Poist (Hoover, ala.) and OF Sam Seeker (Norton, Ohio) led the offense three hits each. Poist recorded a 3-of-4 performance with a walk and launched a solo homerun in the ninth inning while scoring three runs on the day. Seeker was 3-of-5 with two RBI and a run scored, while sophomore 1B Ty Stolarski (Medina, Ohio) and sophomore C Andrew Horvath (Aurora, Ohio) belted round trippers in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively.
The Pioneers registered 12 hits for 13 runs, scoring four runs in the first inning for a 4-0 advantage. The Zips cut the deficit in half in the third inning on two RBI single to right by Seeker. Poist and graduate 3B Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) scored. The following inning, Akron pulled within one, 4-3, on Stolarski's bomb, and both teams plated a pair of runs in the fifth. Malone outscored Akron 7-4 the rest of the way.
