Akron Captures Series Opener at Buffalo, 4-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Redshirt senior Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) tossed a complete-game nine-strikeout performance in the circle to lift The University of Akron softball team to a 4-1 triumph in the series opener between the two schools on Tuesday, April 11.
The Bulls assumed a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Zips went ahead to stay in the top of the second inning, 2-1, on a two-base fielding error that plated redshirt junior Laurel DeVoe (North Canton, Ohio) and redshirt junior Jaiden Bryant (Hilliard, Ohio).
Sophomore Alexis Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) extended Akron's advantage to 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning belting her team-leading third home run of the season over the wall in left field.
A fielding error in the top of the sixth inning accounted for the final run in the affair for the Zips.
DiFeo limited the Buffalo offensive attack to four hits, while three different Zips collected a base hit for Akron, including redshirt junior Tiffany Stevens (Toledo, Ohio), who went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI.
