AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron softball team dropped a pair of Mid-American Conference contests on Wednesday afternoon at Lee R. Jackson Field as the Bobcats edged the Zips in the opener, 5-2, before taking the nightcap, 9-5.
Ohio scored one run in the top of the first inning in game one before adding a pair of tallies in both the third and fourth innings to assume a lead it didn't relinquish.

Ohio bookended three runs in the first inning and four in its final at-bat in the nightcap to secure a 9-5 victory.
