Dayton, Ohio – Akron baseball evened the season series 1-1 against Dayton with a 9-5 win at Woerner Field on Tuesday.

Akron (10-13) pounded out 10 hits for nine runs led by junior IF Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas). Hara registered a 3-of-5 performance from the plate, including an RBI triple in the seventh inning. Hara finished the game with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.

Junior OF Jack Poist (Hoover, Ala.) and senior IF Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) also drove a pair of runs across the plate for Akron. Poist went 2-of-5 with two RBI and a run scored, while Arrivo launced a triple in the third inning for two RBI and scored three times. Junior 3B Max Bowman (Gahanna, Ohio) added an RBI single has he wen 2-of-4 from the plate.

The Zips started the scoring in the second inning, plating two runs on two hits for a 2-0 advantage. Akron added four runs in the top of the third inning on four hits and a Flyers' fielding error for a 6-0 lead. Dayton (5-17) narrowed the Zips advantage 6-2 in the bottom half of the inning, but Akron retaliated with three runs in the seventh, 9-2. The Flyers loaded the bases in the eighth and ninth innings but only managed to push three runs across the plate as Akron held on for the win.

Junior pitcher Anthony Fett (Orchard Lake, Mich.) earned the win with 2.1 innings pitched. He only allowed one hit and strike out four batters.
