Akron Falls in Game Two Against Eastern Michigan

Akron, Ohio – The Akron Zips fell 0-2 in league play and in the series against Eastern Michigan after an 8-3 setback at Skeeles Field on Saturday.
The Zips (4-9, 0-2 MAC) received one hit from seven different players for the three runs as junior IF Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) and sophomore OF Sam Seeker (Norton, Ohio) both used triples to push runners across the plate. Hara sent an 0-1 pitch to right center field with runners on first and second for a pair of RBI. Junior OF Jack Firestone (Zionsville, Ind.) started the two-out rally with a double to right center field and sophomore OF Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio) followed with a walk. Akron plated its third run of the game after a Pennington single to centerfield and an RBI triple from Seeker.
Eastern Michigan scored the first run of the game on a solo homerun by Matt Kirk in the first inning. The Eagles (8-4, 2-0 MAC) followed with a five runs in the second inning as Cory Taylor hit a three-run homer to left field. Two batters later, Kirk sent his second ball out of the yard for two runs. EMU added two runs in the seventh en route to the win.
The final game of the series is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at Skeeles Field.
