AKRON, Ohio – Saturday's #MACtion game was an old-fashioned pitching dual as the Miami RedHawks defeated the Akron Zips 4-0 in game three of the series at Skeeles Field.

Akron starting pitcher Conor Steinbaugh (Georgetown, Ill.) threw five complete shut-out innings, allowing three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts, while Miami's starting pitcher, Zach Maxey, earned the complete game shut-out win. Maxey limited the Zips to only three hits.

Senior Jerry Reinhart (Batavia, N.Y.) collected two of the Zips' three hits with a double in the third inning and a single in the ninth. Senior Bryant Shellenbarger (Mount Vernon, Ohio) recorded the Zips initial single in the second inning.

In the top of the seventh inning, the RedHawks broke the 0-0 stalemate and established the first lead of the game with a two-run homerun by second baseman Brian Zapp. Miami added two runs in the ninth inning on two hits and an Akron fielding error.

The Zips and the RedHawks are scheduled to play a 9-inning game on Sunday, May 15 at Skeeles Field at 12:30 p.m. Before the start of the game Akron will recognize its 10 seniors, starting at Noon.
