WHAT'S AHEAD
Akron baseball is scheduled to play its final Mid-American Conference series of the 2022 season this weekend, Friday-Sunday, May 13-15 The previous scheduled game times have been altered due to the weekend weather forecasts. On Friday, the Zips will host the RedHawks for a doubleheader, 7-inning and 9-inning games, starting at Noon and Saturday's 9-inning contest is scheduled for a Noon first pitch. The final game of the series and Senior Day is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. Senior recognitions start at Noon. The Zips eclipsed the MAC win total from last season with a 11-25 mark.

Under the guidance of third-year head coach Chris Sabo, Akron is 13-35 overall after dropping four games to Ohio in Athens last weekend at Bob Wren Stadium.
Akron is hitting .249 as a team with 372 hits, including a .250 in league average with 274 hits. Justin Barr (Pensacola, Fla.) returned to the line-up after a hamstring injury and is hitting a team-best .313 in league played through 19 games. He is 21-for-67 with nine RBI and 12 runs scored. Freshman Cameron Benson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) adds with .252 BA, distributing third-best 30 hits in 119 at-bats with a three homeruns and six doubles and14 RBI with 14 runs scored. Graduate student Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) owns .279 BA on with a second-best 34 hits in 122 at-bats, including one homerun, three doubles with 15 RBI and 12 runs scored. Senior Bryant Shellenbarger (Mount Vernon, Ohio) owns a team-high 36 hits in league play with a .281 BA, including five homeruns, two triples and four doubles for a team-high 24 RBI and 18 runs scored.

The RedHawks are coming off a four-game sweep by Illinois and led by Benji Brokemond with a .361 batting average and third-best 44 hits.
