ATHENS, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball team (10-20, 5-4 MAC) fell in a 2-1 decision at Ohio on Tuesday afternoon in the series opener.

The Bobcats got on the board first in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Akron tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning with an RBI double from Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.).

A double to right field scored a run for the Bobcats in the bottom of the third to put Ohio ahead, 2-1.

Akron wouldn't connect on a hit until the sixth inning, but was unsuccessful at plating the tying run as Ohio would complete the 2-1 victory.

In the circle, Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) pitched 6.0 innings giving up two runs on six hits while striking out six batters.

Akron and Ohio will close out the series on Wednesday, April 6 in a doubleheader. First game is slated to start at 11 a.m.
