AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team concludes its 2022 campaign on Saturday, April 30, as the Zips welcome Central Michigan to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field for a 12 p.m. Mid-American Conference showdown as part of Blue and Gold Family Weekend.

SCOUTING AKRON:
Junior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), who own 88 and 86 shots, respectively, have headlined Akron's offensive efforts this season. Kiefer, Boyd, junior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.), sophomore Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) and freshman Izzy Szejk (Camp Hill, Pa.) have posted a team-high 35, 25, 14, 12 and nine goals, respectively, while Boyd has registered team-best marks in goals (35), points (40), shots on goal (73), draw controls (111) and ground balls (38), while ranking second in assists (5) and shots (86). Sophomore GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) and freshman GK Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) have combined to turn in 159 saves for Akron on the year.

Boyd rates first in the MAC in draw controls (111) and draw controls per match (6.94), third in ground balls (38) and ground balls per outing (2.38), fifth in goals (35), shots (86) and shots per contest (5.38), seventh in goals per game (2.19) and points (40) and 10th in points per outing (2.50). Kiefer is ranked fourth in shots (88) and shots per tilt (5.50). Lapp rates fourth in the conference in ground balls (34), ground balls per outing (2.27), saves (117), saves per game (7.80) and save percentage (.430) and seventh in goals against average (12.72).

Additionally, junior Abby McMullen is rated second in the league in ground balls (39) and ground balls per tilt (2.44), third in caused turnovers (25) and caused turnover per outing (1.56), eighth in draw controls (47) and ninth in draw controls per match (3.31), while junior Jenna Ridener (Cincinnati, Ohio) rates fourth in caused turnovers (23) and caused turnovers per outing (1.44). Junior Julia Frombach (Avon, Ohio) is ranked fourth in caused turnovers (23) and caused turnovers per match (1.44), seventh in ground balls (30) and eighth in ground balls per game (1.88).

Akron is squaring off against Central Michigan for the fourth time in program history with the Chippewas leading the all-time series, 3-0. The Chippewas own a 9-7 record on the campaign, including a 7-2 mark in league play, following a 12-11 victory over league-leading Robert Morris on Saturday, April 23. Senior Maggie Diebold directs the Central Michigan offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (53), shots (116) and shots on goal (88), while junior Audrey Whiteside has posted team-best totals in assists (29) and draw controls (54). Junior GK Erin Owens has collected 84 saves on the campaign for the Chippewas. Central Michigan is led by seventh-year head coach Sara Tisdale, who owns a 51-54 ledger as a head coach for the Chippewas and is 102-62 in 10 overall campaigns as a head coach.

Noelle Boyd is ranked 11th in draw controls per contest (6.94) and 51st in ground balls per tilt (2.38) and free position percentage (.550). Abby McMullen is rated 42nd in caused turnovers per match (2.44).
