CLEMSON, S.C. – The Akron softball team (0-7) fell to Saint Francis in a 4-2 decision, before dropping its final game of the day to Boston University, 15-0, at the opening day of the Clemson Classic.

GM 1: Akron 2, Saint Francis 4
Akron got off to a fast start and took a 1-0 lead in the second when sophomore SS Jaiden Bryant (Hilliard, Ohio) singled up the middle and drove in Megan Cotton (Sammamish, Wash.). Sophomore OF Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ont.) hit her first homer of the season in in the third inning that put Akron ahead, 2-0.

Saint Francis answered back with a huge inning in the sixth and put up four runs that secured the 4-2 victory over Akron.

Macintosh-Houlder led the Zips' bats with two hits, one run, and an RBI. Junior Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) pitched five innings while giving up two runs and striking out three batters. Redshirt junior P Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) was issued the loss after giving up two runs in one inning of action.

GM 2: Akron 0, Boston 15
Boston got on the board first scoring a pair of runs in the first inning and adding six runs in the third inning.

Akron's only hit of the game came from sophomore INF Madison Dudek (Uniontown, Ohio) in the second, but the Zips were unable to capitalize.

The Terriers added four runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth inning to complete the 15-0 shutout over Akron.

Akron saw action from Olivia Otani (Canton, Ohio) who pitched 2.2 innings giving up six runs on four hits, while Sheridon Wilber (Rock Creek, Ohio) put in two innings of work giving up seven runs on six hits.

Akron will close out the tournament Saturday, Feb. 26 as the Zips face tournament hosts Clemson at 12:30 p.m. before closing out tournament action in the final game determined based on seeding at 3:30 p.m. or 6 p.m.
