Akron Battles No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs to a 1-0 Decision

Athens, Ga. – The Akron Zips fell 1-0 to the No. 15 ranked Georgia Bulldogs at Foley Filed on Friday night.

The Bulldogs (5-0) scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning as the Zips (1-3) pitching staff limited the Bulldogs to just five hits on the day. Three of those hits came in the first inning as Akron starter Conor Steinbaugh hurled four innings allowing one run and one walk while striking out four batters. The final two Bulldogs' hits came in the eighth inning. Relief pitcher Sammy Tortorella threw two hitless innings and struck out one batter while Jacob Krausher and Brett Dietrich threw one inning each. Krausher fanned one batter without relinquishing a base hit, and Dietrich allowed two hits and struck out two batters.

Offensively, Akron scattered four hits as Kaito Hara, Cameron Benson and Nick Arrivo all singled in four at-bats, while Jackson Haas went 1-of-3 from the plate.
