Akron and Central Michigan Battle to a 2-2 Draw

AKRON, Ohio – On a day where the University of Akron women's soccer team honored seniors Bailee Bowers (Dublin, Ohio) and Rielyn Hamilton (Burlington, Ky.) in a pregame ceremony, it was a goal in the 90th minute (89:30) from Maggie Basse for Central Michigan that ended the women's Mid-American Conference showdown in a 2-2 draw on Sunday, Oct. 16 at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Zips assumed an early 1-0 advantage on the strength of the fourth goal of the season from freshman Emma King (Akron, Ohio) at the 4:51 mark off an assist from sophomore Quinn Casey (Powell, Ohio).
Akron extended its lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute (57:28) when sophomore Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio) connected on the team-leading fifth goal of the year.
The Chippewas cut the deficit in half, 2-1, with a tally from Megan Logue at the 66:00 mark, before Basse netted the equalizer in the 90th minute (89:30).
Hadley led the Zips with a game-high four shots, while King and sophomore Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) added two shots apiece for Akron.
Sophomore GK Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) made a save for the Zips on the afternoon
