AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron women's cross country squad returns to competition on Friday, Sept. 17, as the Zips travel to Cedarville, Ohio, to run at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships hosted by Cedarville University.

The men's championship 8K race is scheduled for 2 p.m., while women's 6K will begin at 2:45 p.m.

Thirty-five schools from Ohio will be competing in the women's field, including; Akron, Ashland, Bluffton, Capital, Case Western Reserve, Cedarville, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Defiance, Findlay, Heidelberg, John Carroll, Kent State, Lake Erie, Lorain County CC, Malone, Miami University, Mount Union, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Muskingum, Ohio, Ohio Dominican, Ohio Northern, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Rio Grande, Shawnee State, Tiffin, Walsh, Wilberforce, Wilmington, Wittenberg, Wooster and Wright State.

Sparked by a first-place finish from Mackenzie Andrews, Akron captured top-team honors in Division I at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Cedarville University on Sept. 28, 2019. Andrews paced the field winning the women's 6K in 21:42.6.

In the women's race, the Zips tied Dayton for top honors in the Division 1 field, as each school registered 42 points. The Flyers edged Akron by three points for the overall team championship.
