OXFORD, Ohio – The Akron Zips fell 6-2 and 9-2 against the Miami RedHawks in the final Mid-American Conference series of the season for the Zips on Saturday.

In the seventh inning of Saturday's first game, Akron pushed two runs across the plate as the Zips scored on four hits and left three runners on base in the attempted comeback. Juniors Cameron Tilly (Canberra, Australia) and Bryant Shellenbarger (Mount Vernon, Ohio) delivered back-to-back singles while junior Justin Barr (Pensacola, Fla.) Â walked to load the bases with no outs. Junior Austin Domer (Orrville, Ohio) followed by sending the first pitch of his at-bat to centerfield for an RBI, and after an Akron flyout, junior Zac Granger (Elmira, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single to push the Zips second run across the plate. Akron scattered five hits as a team as Junior Dominick Trevino (Edmond, Okla.) recorded the Zips' initial hit in the first inning. Starting pitcher junior Taed Heydinger (Bayfield, Colo.) received the loss in five innings of work, allowing four earned runs on four hits with a strikeout and three walks. Â

In game two of the twinbill, Akron scored both runs in the third inning after trailing 4-0 to the home team. Trevino and Tilly drove in both runs as Domer singled to start the inning. Juniors Josh Beck (Ottawa Lake, Mich.) and Jerry Reinhart (Batavia, N.Y.) loaded the bases on a pair of free passes as Beck was hit by a pitch and Reinhart walked after falling behind 0-2 in the count. Trevino's sacrifice flyout plated Domer and Beck scored on an RBI single to left field by Tilly. Freshman Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) led the Zips offensive efforts with a 2-for-3 performance which included a pair of singles. Shellenbarger and Barr added to the Zips six total hits with singles. Freshman Jacob Clark (Muncie, Ind.) received the loss in 3.1 innings of work.
