OXFORD, Ohio – The Akron Zips scored the first run of the game, but stranded 12 baserunners as Miami posted a 6-1 win to complete the series sweep at McKie Field at Hayden Park on Sunday.

Akron (14-36,8-32 MAC) scattered nine hits as junior Cameron Tilly (Canberra, Australia) led the way with a 3-for-4 performance that included the Zips' lone RBI. Tilly's first-inning single drove junior Tate Wargo (Benld, Ill.) across the plate. Wargo reached base with a walk and freshman Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) followed with first of his two hits on the day.

Hara and junior Austin Domer (Orrville, Ohio) each posted 2-for-4 performances from the plate for Akron. Juniors Bryant Shellenbarger (Mount Vernon, Ohio) and Dominick Trevino (Edmond, Okla.) rounded out the Zips hitting with a pair of 1-for-4 efforts.

Miami (25-26,18-17 MAC) scored three runs in the fourth inning and added one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh innings for the five-run advantage. In the fourth inning, the RedHawks plated three runs on three hits with no errors, and only needed one hit in the sixth and seventh innings for one and two runs, respectively.

Akron sophomore starting pitcher Jackson Miller (Medina, Ohio) was credited with the loss, throwing five innings and allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The Akron Zips are scheduled to travel to Kent, Ohio for the final game of regular season play against rival Kent State. The Zips and the Flashes are scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch at Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium.
