AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team enters the final round of the 2021 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships ranked third overall after carding  306-310 – 616 (+40) total at Silver Lake Country Club in Silver Lake, Ohio on Friday.

Akron is hosting this year's MAC finale at the par-72, 6,277-yard course located 10-minutes from campus. All five Zips finished the 36-hole day in the Top 20 paced by sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India), who enters the final 18 holes ranked fourth overall with a 6-over par 150 tournament total. Shah carded rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2).

Freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) followed in scoring for Akron with a 155 (+11) total, while sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and freshman Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) with 156 (+12) performances. David is currently tied for ninth overall with rounds of 78 (+6) and 77 (+5), while Pikunas, 77 (+5) and 79 (+7), and Hahn, 75 (+3) and 81 (+9), are tied at eleventh overall. Rounding out the scoring for the Zips was junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) with a 78-80 - 158 (+14) ledger.

No. 13 Kent State leads the field with a 296-286 – 582 (+6) followed by Northern Illinois (609, +33), Akron (616, +40), Toledo (635, +59), Eastern Michigan (636, +60), Ohio (637, +61), Ball State (647, +71), Western Michigan (659, +83), Bowling Green (659, +83) and Central Michigan (676, +100).

The Golden Flashes own the top three individual spots as Caley McGinty and Emily Price are tied for top honors with 2-under par 142 scores. Chloe Salort is third with a 148 (+4) and NIU's Lauren Ingle is tied with Shah in the fourth position with a 150 (+6) ledger.

The Zips were slated to tee-off at 9:20 -10 a.m., but due to a 30-minute frost delay, Akron started final round action at 9:50 a.m. as Pearce led the way followed by Pikunas (10:00), Hahn (10:10), David (10:20) and Shah (10:30).
