Georgia Southern enters action this Thursday with a 4-5-0 ledger on the heels on a 1-0 double-overtime setback versus Stetson on Sept. 28.
The Eagles are led offensively by junior Adam Davie, who owns team-high marks in goals (2), assists (2), points (6), shots (24), shots on goal (10) and game-winners (1), while junior Mauro Gutierrez-Solis also boast team-best totals in goals (2), assists (2) and points (6). Junior goalkeeper Jokull Blaengsson has recorded 22 saves en route to posting a 1.82 goals against average as part of a pair of shutouts.

The 14th-rated University of Akron men's soccer team garnered a result in its Mid-American Conference opener as the Zips battled No. 3 West Virginia to a 0-0 double-overtime draw on Sept. 30.

In a tilt dominated by defense, the Mountaineers finished the evening posting an 11-7 margin in shots, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Will Meyer (Solon, Ohio) was stellar in net for Akron registering a game-high five saves, including a pair in the double-overtime period, en route to earning his third shutout of the season and his second straight.

Freshman Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah) led the Zips with a game-high two shots.
Akron posted its fifth consecutive shutout at West Virginia in the regular season earning the result this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Shot by Luke McCormick at 9:25 mark from 10 yards out deflects off a diving save by Will Meyer pinged off the crossbar and is cleared out by the Zips' defense
• West Virginia had a goal waved off in the 15th minute (14:09) on an offsides call
• A Mountaineer shot by Frederik Jorgensen at the 22:31 mark went just wide of the corner of the net from 12 yards out
• Akron was outshot in the initial stanza by a 4-1 margin, with West Virginia netting only one shot on goal in the first half
• A shot from junior Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) from sophomore Ryan Kingsford (Herne Bay, England) in 49th minute (48:33) went just wide of frame
• A shot from 15 yards out at the 52:10 mark by Ike Swiger went just over the top of the net for West Virginia
• A header in the box by Kingsford in 61st minute (60:54) came up just shy of finding the top of the net for Akron
• Clapier registered the Zips' first shot on goal at the 62:28 mark, a strike that was saved by Steven Tekesky

A LEGACY OF SUCCESS
Since 2007, the Akron men's soccer program has posted the highest winning percentage in the nation (as of games on Oct. 6) (.756), with an overall record of 219-59-35. The Zips are followed by Maryland, 207-65-43 (.725), Wake Forest, 200-64-38 (.725), North Carolina, 199-68-45 (.710) and Creighton, 193-78-29 (.692). Akron made 12 straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2007-18), earning a first-round bye in eight seasons. The Zips have advanced to the NCAA's Round of 16 in eight of the last 13 years. Since 1961, the Zips have advanced to the NCAA postseason 33 times, including 17 of the past 20 seasons.

Meyer was outstanding in net for the Zips in a 0-0 double-overtime draw at No. 3 West Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 30, garnering his second consecutive shutout and third of the season. Meyer registered four of his game-high five saves in the second half and overtime, including a pair of stops in the second overtime session.
AKRON ANNOUNCES UPCOMING SCHEDULING CHANGE
Akron announced an upcoming scheduling for its game with Bowling Green originally slated for Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The showdown between the Zips and Falcons will now take place a day earlier on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
