AKRON, Ohio -- Akron Zips held the Dayton Flyers scoreless and cruised to a 3-0 shutout victory in the season opener on Thursday (Aug. 20) at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Three different players scored goals in the shutout performance as Remi Agunbiade and Londen Sears each recorded a goal and an assist. Sears netted the first goal of the season in the 11^th minute and Agunbiade provided the assist. In the 17^th minute, Agunbiade lifted the Zips to a 2-0 lea, burying a one-on-one shot attempt. Jack Sullivan provided the Zips third goal in the 52^nd minute as Sears added the helper.

The Zips held a fie-shot advantage (15-10) over the Flyers ang put six shots on goal compared the Dayton's two. Akron goalkeeper Brett Kaminski recorded a clean sheet, denying both Flyer shot attempts.

How it Happened
Akron started the scoring when Londen Sears scored his first goal of the season in the 11th minute, assisted by Remi Agunbiade.

The Zips increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Agunbiade -- his first goal of the season -- in the 17th minute.

Akron went up 3-0 on Jack Sullivan's 52nd-minute goal, his first of the season. Sears assisted the goal. The 3-0 score held to the finish.
