AKRON, Ohio - We continue updates from across country and the world in what we like to call Postcards from The Zips. Up next, from women's basketball is Akron freshman Gabrielle Brown-Mitchell (Solon, Ohio).

What is daily life like back home knowing that you're expected to stay inside your homes?
Â
Daily life is different, and it is an adjustment. Especially with school just now starting up, I have to get myself in a routine as if I were back at school. With the expectation of us having to stay at home, it makes me want to leave the house even more.Â

Discuss your feelings as the events of past month were occurring that ultimately led to the cancellation of spring sports and you returning home?
Â
I was surprised when we were sent back home. I was under the impression that we would be going home for about two weeks which turned into the rest of the semester. I was pretty upset, especially knowing that the best part of year was being cancelled. I didn't realize how much sports at Akron had impacted me in many different ways. I felt for my friends who were unable to finish out their winter sports and especially for those who had just began their spring sport.Â
Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time?

My teammates and I connect in numerous ways whether that be snapchat, FaceTime, Instagram, Zoom, or just a simple text. We miss each other, especially because we are not around each other as much as we normally would, so we love to keep in contact.
Can you describe what it has means to be a Zip, especially during this time?Â
Â
Being a Zip during this time has meant a lot to me. Even though we are not together, we are all still connected in some way. We have a lot of resources that are available to us in all aspects.
