Â
"I thought our pitching was pretty good, and I thought our defense was pretty good for the most part," said first-year head coach Chris Sabo. "The only question was how we were going to hit and if we were going to generate enough offense to beat teams. We'll keep adjusting the line-up, and find some guys who can give us consistent offense."
Â
On the day, Brenton led the Zips at the plate, batting .429 with three hits and an RBI. Goulet followed with two runs and two hits. The Zips utilized 10 pitchers. Junior righty Quinton Kujawa (Mount Vernon, Ill.) saw the most action, throwing 5.1 innings. Junior Jacob Wosinski (Ada, Mich.) had seven strikeouts in 3.2 innings to start game 2.
Â
Akron travels to Pepperdine for a three-game series on Feb. 21-23.
