Kayla Wulf Named MAC Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For the first time in her career, junior Kayla Wulf (Maumee, Ohio) was named the Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference, the league office announced on Tuesday.Â
Wulf paced an Akron offense at the Samford Tournament that scored 35 runs on 50 hits. The Zips catcher recorded a slash line of .588/1.000/.667. In 17 at-bats, the Wulf posted 10 hits, one double, two home runs, and drew four walks.Â
Wulf contributed to nine runs on the weekend for UA garnering five RBI and six runs scored while also stealing two bases and totaling 17 bases.
In three straight games, Wulf recorded a three-hit performance going a combined 9-for-11 with four RBI, two home runs and a double. In the field, Wulf registered 19 putouts and three assists.Â
For the second season in a row, an Akron student-athlete was named Player of the Week by the MAC after opening weekend of play.Â
Akron returns to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 14, as the Zips head to the sunshine state of Florida. UA is scheduled to compete at the Madiera Beach Tournament (Feb. 14-16) against South Dakota, Mercer, Central Arkansas, Georgia State, and Butler.Â
