KENT, Ohio – University of Akron track and field finished the competition at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State on Saturday, Feb. 9, with four first-place finishes as part of 16 overall top-five performances on the day.
 
Freshman Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio) captured the men's 400 meters in a career-best indoor time of 48.60, while crossing the line in a career-best indoor time of 21.50 to finish third in the 200 meters.
 
Redshirt junior Tevin Brown (Toledo, Ohio) ran a career-best indoor time of 8:21.36 to win the men's 3,000 meters.
 
Junior Haley Hess (Curtice, Ohio) took the title in the women's 800 meters registering a time of 2:13.29.
 
Senior Ashley Murray (Seville, Ohio) logged a career-best indoor time of 17:36.75 to win the women's 5,000 meters.
 
Sophomore Andre Bollam-Godbott (Brunswick, Ohio) recorded a career-best time of 4:10.74 to finish second in the men's mile, while senior Ben Olewiler (Shiloh, Ohio) placed second in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-6.25 (1.99m).
 
Redshirt junior Tyler Fraker (Delta, Ohio) equaled his highest career indoor jump eclipsing 16-6.75 (5.05m) to earn a runner-up effort in the men's pole vault.
 
Akron returns to competition hosting the Zips Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Stile Athletics Field House.
