Akron’s Dylan Meeks Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron defensive lineman Dylan Meeks (Orlando, Fla.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 5 football team.
A starter in nine games this season, the junior has 33 tackles, including 11 solo stops, 0.5 TFL, and a break-up. A MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-MAC selection, and Dean's List student, Meeks sports a 3.881 GPA in exercise science/pre-physical therapy.
To be eligible for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. District winners now move onto the national ballot for consideration for Academic All-America honors.
Under first-year head coach Tom Arth, Akron travels to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for a 7:30 p.m. game on ESPNU. The Zips close out the 2019 season on Tuesday, Nov. 26, with Ohio at 6 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field. The Senior Class will be honored during a pregame ceremony.
