Akron Zips 2026 Football Schedule Released

AKRON, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference unveiled its football schedule for the 2026 season as Akron is set to play eight MAC games, including four at InfoCision Stadium, the league announced on Wednesday.
Akron will kick off its 2026 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 3 in Winston-Salem, N.C. at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, Akron is scheduled for its home opener at InfoCision Stadium Summa Health Field against Robert Morris followed by a road game against B1G opponent Minnesota. The Zips will battle the Golden Gophers at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Akron returns to InfoCision Stadium Summa Health Field for the final non-conference game, hosting the UNLV Rebels on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Akron enters league play in Mount Pleasant, Mich. on Saturday, Oct. 3 against the Central Michigan Chippewas and returns to Akron for the MAC home opener against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Zips round out the month of October on the road, traveling to Oxford, Ohio to battle the Miami RedHawks on Saturday, Oct. 17 and The Wagon Wheel rivalry game versus Kent State. The Golden Flashes will host the 69th installment of the crosstown rivalry at DIX Stadium on Saturday, October 24 before the Zips head into its bye week (Oct. 25-31).
The November slate highlights the midweek MACtion portion of the schedule as the Zips are scheduled for three midweek MACtion contests, starting at home with back-to-back games. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Akron hosts the Ohio Bobcats followed by another Tuesday contest against the Western Michigan Broncos on November 10. The Zips travel to McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Amherst, Mass. for the final midweek game against the UMass Minutemen.
The Zips return to InfoCision Stadium Summa Health Field for the season finale and Senior Day on Friday, Nov. 27 against Buffalo.
The MAC will release an updated schedule later this spring with game times and television for the first three weeks of the regular season and its midweek #MACtion schedule. All remaining game times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game. Games will air on ESPN platforms (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPN+/ESPN3) and CBS Sports Network.
The new MAC scheduling model eliminates the MAC East and West Divisions. The top-two teams based on conference winning percentage will compete in the MAC Football Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.
This new model will allow for each team to face all 11 conference opponents home and away at least once during a three-year cycle. Additionally, the new format will incorporate protected opponents based on geographic location and rivalries.
